Point, Bradley Whitford!

The *West Wing* star is the latest to join the chorus of people, TV shows, and theaters to take offense to Timothée Chalamet's recent diss of ballet and opera.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the premiere of his new film *Reminders of Him*, Whitford was asked for his take on ballet and opera, and he shared his admiration for both art forms. "I knew a lot of opera singers where I studied acting, and I always found it amazing," the Juilliard alum said. "I would be incredibly moved by it, [even] when I had no idea what they were saying."

Whitford then took a direct shot at Chalamet and his Oscar-nominated movie *Marty Supreme*: "I am not that into ping pong, though."

During a Feb. 24 conversation with Matthew McConaughey, Chalamet stepped in hot water when talking about the challenges facing the movie industry.

"I admire people, and I've done it myself, who go on a talk show and go, 'Hey, we gotta keep movie theaters alive. You know, we gotta keep this genre alive,'" he said. "And another part of me feels like, if people want to see it, like *Barbie*, like *Oppenheimer*, they're going to go see it and go out of their way to be loud and proud about it. And I don't want to be working in ballet or opera, or you know, things where it's like, 'Hey, keep this thing alive,' even though it's like, no one cares about this anymore."

Chalamet then quickly added, "All respect to the ballet and opera people out there. I just lost 14 cents in viewership."

*The View*, *Jeopardy*, Doja Cat, the London Ballet, and the Metropolitan Opera are among those to have called out Chalamet over his dig. The heat comes ahead of Sunday's Oscars, where Chalamet is hoping to take home his first Best Actor trophy.

Candace Cameron Bure is opening up about the time she took a leap of faith — and ended up at a "dark and demonic" party.

The *Full House* alum and proud Christian recalled the awkward night out on her eponymous podcast, during a conversation with former *Bachelor* contestant Madi Prewett about the type of friends they've surrounded themselves with, and the lessons learned along the way.

Bure, 49, recounted a "shameful" experience once when she accepted a friend's invitation to a party in an effort to be "cool." But when the actress and her husband, former professional hockey player Valeri Bure, walked in, the festivities were absolutely sinful.

"It ended up being this underground party that was an S&M, like, sex thing that was so dark and demonic," Bure told Prewett. "My eyeballs were popping out of my head because I saw stuff I had never seen before in my life. And I'm looking at Val, going like, 'How are we here? What is happening?'"

Candace Cameron Bure reveals what 'weirds' her out about sex: 'It totally just depends on your upbringing'

The couple, who married in 1996, "made a hard U-turn" and immediately walked out of the party.

"It was just so slimy and weird," cringed Bure. "And I was like [to Val], 'We're going to pause before we ever say yes to going out with that friend again.'"

The Bures are no prudes, however. In a previous episode of *The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast*, the host dished on intimacy with her husband of 30 years — and revealed there is one thing that "weirds me out": "a visual of God watching me having sex."

"It totally just depends on your upbringing and what your past experiences have been or the things that you were taught as a kid," Bure explained to Prewett, who has been co-hosting the current season of her podcast. "I'm almost 50, and some of those adolescent thoughts never quite leave your mind or those high school teenage thoughts never quite leave your mind."

Bure was only 20 when she married the Russian-born NHL player after two years of dating (fun fact: they were introduced by her *Full House* costar Dave Coulier). "Purity culture," as she explained it, expected her to be a virgin until her wedding night.

"And it was a little... I don't want to quite use the word shameful, but there were parts of it that felt shameful because I went from not being a sexual person to [people] saying, like, now you can do whatever you want," she confessed. "And so it felt weird. There wasn't a good bridge there."

Bure broke the cycle with her three children — Natasha, 27, Lev, 25, and Maksim, 24 — when it came to having "the talk" about sex, she told Prewett. "I've done a lot of parenting and had a lot of conversations in this area over the years."

JFK Jr., one of the biggest celebrities of the '90s, once appeared on one of the decade's most popular sitcoms, CBS' Murphy Brown.

But Kennedy wasn't considering being an actor. The son of President John F. Kennedy and his wife Jackie Kennedy, who had always sought to live his life away from the spotlight, was a fan of the show and did it days before the release of George, the magazine he founded in 1995.

"I hope the show will introduce George to an audience of potential readers who clearly enjoy politically related entertainment," Kennedy told The Tampa Bay Times, per PEOPLE.

Get your daily dose of entertainment news, celebrity updates, and what to watch with our EW Dispatch newsletter.

The show depicted Candice Bergen as the titular character, working on a newsmagazine alongside a team of colleagues including Grant Shaud's Miles Silverberg, Faith Ford's Corky Sherwood, Charles Kimbrough's Jim Dial, and Joel Regalbuto's Frank Fontana. The show won 18 Emmys during its initial run, from 1988 to 1998. It was revived for one season in 2018.

Kennedy's episode, "Altered States," aired as the season 8 premiere on Sept. 18, 1995. His scene featured Kennedy paying a visit to Murphy's office to deliver a wedding gift to the journalist. The event had actually been called off, however.

"John, hi! Oh, I guess the lawyer thing didn't work out," Bergen's Murphy cracked, in reference to him having infamously failed the bar exam twice. "That's a tough break."

He then gifted her a copy of George with her on the cover, explaining that it's his new project.

"I had the guys in the art department mock up a cover with you on it," he told her. "It's pretty great, huh?"

When she was unimpressed — as the hard-hitting journalist often was — Kennedy said he was also gifting her with a year's subscription.

The Murphy Brown cast fondly recalled the moment in a 2018 cast reunion for Entertainment Weekly, because they were impressed.

"He was a god," Bergen said. "Every woman on the Warner lot was on our soundstage."

Regalbuto echoed the sentiment.

"I never saw a guy so good-looking in my life," he said. "It was ridiculous!"

As fans of the FX show Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette know, Kennedy was spending a lot of time on the magazine during his final years.

He died in 1999, after the small plane that he was piloting on July 16 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. Carolyn Bessette, his wife since 1996, and Carolyn's sister, Lauren Bessette, both of whom are depicted on the show, also died. The couple had planned to drop off Lauren in Martha's Vineyard, Mass., before flying on to his cousin's wedding in Cape Cod.

One might argue that there's more quality television to watch in 2026 than at any point in the past. We simply have more places to watch TV than ever before.

There's also an abundance of new series being made every week, on every network and streaming service. That said, sometimes the classics will do just fine. There will always be a place for shows you grew up with, or have fond memories of watching during their original run.

For all of Netflix's original programming, its catalog also includes a wide variety of shows from past decades, including the '90s. With that in mind, here's **'s rundown of the best '90s shows streaming on Netflix.

Dawson's Creek (1998–2003)

DAWSON'S CREEK, James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes,

James Van Der Beek and Katie Holmes eyeing Joshua Jackson (probably) for different reasons in 'Dawson's Creek'.

Taking a trip back to *Dawson's Creek* is like attending a high school reunion. It's an opportunity to revisit the friends you came of age with.

The love triangle between Dawson (James Van Der Beek), Joey (Katie Holmes), and Pacey (Joshua Jackson) is one for the ages. Meanwhile, the show doesn't shy away from teenage traumas like first love, death, depression, divorce, pregnancy, abortion, addiction, homophobia, and more. After following the characters from high school to college, the series flashes forward five years for the finale with one final gut-punch.

Where to watch *Dawson's Creek*:** **Netflix

**Cast**: James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams, Joshua Jackson, Katie Holmes, Mary-Margaret Humes, Busy Philipps

A Different World (1987–1993)

Glynn Turman as Col. Bradford 'Brad' Taylor, Dawnn Lewis as Jaleesa Vinson Taylor, Lou Myers as Vernon GAines, Charnele Brown as Kimberly 'Kim' Reese (front row) Kadeem Hardison as Dwayne Cleophus Wayne, Jasmine Guy as Whitley Marion Gilbert Wayne, Darryl M. Bell as Ronald 'Ron' Johnson, and Cree Summer as Winifred 'Freddie' Brooks in A DIFFERENT WORLD

What began as a spinoff of *The Cosby Show* following the trials and tribulations of Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet) at Hillman College quickly evolved into an ensemble comedy that stood on its own. *A Different World *was able to not only survive but thrive without Bonet, who departed after the first season. As a result, the focus shifted to Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) and Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy), along with other classmates and Hillman faculty, including Coach Oakes (Sinbad) and Col. Taylor (Glynn Turman).

The show's continued fanbase has led to a Netflix sequel series revolving around Dwayne and Whitley's daughter, now a Hillman student herself.

Where to watch *A Different World*: Netflix

**Cast**: Kadeem Hardison, Jasmine Guy, Darryl M. Bell, Lisa Bonet, Charnele Brown, Dawnn Lewis, Cree Summer, Glynn Turman, Sinbad

Goosebumps (1995–1998)

20th Century Fox

What Stephen King is to adults, R.L. Stine is for young readers; he simply knows how to deliver a good spooky story. It was only a matter of time before his signature series was adapted to television. This initial attempt delivered plenty of scares to Fox Kids viewers during its four-season run, including popular episodes like "The Haunted Mask" "Night of the Living Dummy," and "Say Cheese and Die," starring none other than Ryan Gosling.

*Goosebumps *has since been rebooted for a 2023 incarnation, and there have been several films as well, but the original '90s version tends to hold the fondest memories among fans.

Where to watch *Goosebumps*: Netflix

**Cast**: John White, Kaj-Erik Eriksen, Stuart Stone, Kathy Greenwood, Erica Luttrell, Daniel DeSanto, Maggie Castle, Caterina Scorsone

Home Improvement (1991–1999)

The textbook definition of mainstream American comedy in the 1990s, *Home Improvement* was based on Tim Allen's stand-up act. The show gave viewers a snapshot of suburban life that revolved around Tim Taylor (Allen), host of a *This Old House*-style home improvement show called *Tool Time*. In addition to kickstarting Allen's acting career, the series helped launch Pamela Anderson just before she landed *Baywatch*.

The chemistry between Allen and Patricia Richardson remains the biggest draw for many even now, but there's also the camaraderie between Allen, his *Tool Time* sidekick Richard Karn, and Tim's mostly hidden neighbor, Wilson (Earl Hindman), to keep viewers coming back.

Where to watch *Home Improvement*:** **Netflix

**Cast**: Tim Allen, Patricia Richardson, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Zachery Ty Bryan, Taran Noah Smith, Richard Karn, Pamela Anderson

The Jamie Foxx Show (1996–2001)

THE JAMIE FOXX SHOW

After gaining attention on *In Living Color*, Jamie Foxx graduated to his own show by starring as Jamie King, an aspiring musician working at the hotel owned by his aunt (Ellia English) and uncle (Garrett Morris). Pivotal to the series was the will-they-won't-they chemistry between Jamie and his co-worker Fancy (Garcelle Beauvais), who eventually became his wife.

After five seasons, both actors used the show as a stepping stone, with Foxx jumping into a film career and Beauvais joining *NYPD Blue*. The show also cemented the TV bonafides of Christopher B. Duncan, who played Braxton, Jamie's high-strung frenemy.

Where to watch *The Jamie Foxx Show*:** **Netflix

**Cast**: Jamie Foxx, Garcelle Beauvais, Christopher B. Duncan, Ellia English, Garrett Morris, Suli McCullough

Martin (1992–1997)

Between his stand-up work and scene-stealing turns in the *House Party* films, Martin Lawrence had enough career momentum to headline his own sitcom. He starred as Martin Payne, a DJ — and later a talk show host — living with his girlfriend Gina (Tisha Campbell).

In addition to Martin's friends, Cole and Tommy, and Tisha's pal Pam, the series also gave Lawrence the opportunity to create other characters for himself, including Sheneneh and Roscoe, among others. The series remains tremendously successful in syndication and streaming, and the cast's 30th anniversary reunion special is worth checking out, too.

Where to watch* Martin*: Netflix

**Cast**: Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Thomas Mikal Ford, Carl Anthony Payne II, Tichina Arnold, Jon Gries, Garrett Morris

Seinfeld (1989–1998)

Jerry Seinfeld as Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Elaine Benes

It is, as has been said more times than we'd care to count, a show about nothing. But that nothingness slowly but surely became one of the most popular sitcoms ever. Revolving around a fictional Jerry Seinfeld and his friends George (Jason Alexander), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and Kramer (Michael Richards), the series follows the foursome's relatively mundane lives and… that's about it, really.

*Seinfeld *captured the attention of comedy fans worldwide and turned the cast and creators, including Larry David, into household names. Better yet, whether it's the infamous "contest" or the yada-yada, the jokes still hold up.

Where to watch *Seinfeld*:** **Netflix

**Cast**: Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Richards, Wayne Knight, Estelle Harris, Jerry Stiller, Patrick Warburton

Sex and the City (1998–2004)

Based on the newspaper column and 1996 book by Candace Bushnell, *Sex and the City* follows the lives of four friends — columnist Carrie Bradshaw, publicist Samantha Jones, art dealer Charlotte York, and attorney Miranda Hobbes — in the heart of New York City. In addition to making stars out of all four actresses, the series provided female viewers with a mature look at single, married, and divorced life. It was instantly a must-discuss topic at water-coolers everywhere.

After running six seasons, the series spawned two movies, a prequel series (*The Carrie Diaries*), and a sequel series (*And Just Like That…*) — but it's the original that multiple generations hold dear.

Where to watch *Sex and the City*: Netflix

**Cast**: Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, Chris Noth, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Willie Garson, John Corbett

The Steve Harvey Show (1996–2002)

Between his radio show, stand-up comedy, and lengthy stint as host of *Family Feud*, it's sometimes easy to forget that Steve Harvey once had an acting career as well. Although his first headlining gig (*Me and the Boys*) didn't last long, he found far more success once his name was included in the title.

*The Steve Harvey Show* features Harvey as a one-time funk musician who has transitioned into a teaching career at a Chicago high school. Co-starring Cedric the Entertainer and Wendy Raquel Robinson, the series featured a plethora of fun guest stars ranging from Busta Rhymes to *The Jeffersons*' Isabel Sanford.

The definition of "comfort television" can vary wildly from person to person, but in times of political turmoil, there's one show that never fails to feel like a salve on an emotional wound. For seven seasons, *The West Wing* followed President Jed Barlet (Martin Sheen) throughout his presidency, including his re-election and, inevitably, the race to determine his successor.

With an ensemble featuring Rob Lowe, Bradley Whitford, Allison Janney, Richard Schiff, and John Spencer, the series explored stories that may still hit disconcertingly close to home. The opportunity to watch an intelligent, empathetic Commander-in-Chief making decisions for the entirety of his electorate… it's darned nice to see.

Where to watch *The West Wing*:** **Netflix

**Cast**: Martin Sheen, Rob Lowe, Dule Hill, Allison Janney, Richard Schiff, John Spencer, Bradley Whitford, Janel Moloney, Stockard Channing
