Don't speak, just pray — that's how Gwen Stefani has suggested she became pregnant with son Apollo at age 44.
In a new interview with the payment-based Catholic prayer app Hallow, the No Doubt singer-songwriter opened up about expanding her family in 2014 with then-partner and fellow musician, Gavin Rossdale.
"I started working with this guy, and he was an atheist Jew that converted after being atheist, growing up in Israel. He was studying the Torah, and he had this big epiphany, awakening," Stefani, now 56, said. "He starts talking to me about the Torah. I was desperate at this point to, during all this, I really wanted to have another baby, I really did, and I couldn't. I was old."

Stefani said her conversation with the unnamed man and his praise for the Torah started "waking me up" to new possibilities — and that her oldest son, Kingston, informed her at the time that he wanted her to have another baby, too.
The superstar said she told Kingston, "Sorry, your mommy's too old to have a baby now," but that he prayed, asking, "Please, God, let my mom have a baby."
Stefani said his actions moved her — and, apparently, moved a higher power as well: "I never taught him that, really. I think it was like four weeks later, I was pregnant with Apollo, who I had at 44 years old — naturally, totally full-on gift. That was the first miracle!"

The entertainer has received criticism from fans over her endorsement of the Hallow app, with some calling it a "pay to pray" app, though the platform offers limited free service.
Stefani and Rossdale were married from 2002 to 2016, and share three children, including the aforementioned Kingston, Apollo, and a third son, Zuma.
The musician went through a highly publicized breakup with Rossdale, with the process inspiring a significant portion of her 2016 album *This Is What the Truth Feels Like*, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — her first solo album to do so.
"I don't have any secrets; I don't have anything to hide. I haven't done anything wrong," Stefani told ** in an interview for the album, which she said at the time also chronicled a more joyous angle of the breakup process.
"I'm happy to share my story. [This] is really the only record I've written that's mostly happy; all the others are about heartbreak," she said. "And there's some of that on here—it needed that, to make the rest feel as good as it feels."
Stefani would go on to marry country singer Blake Shelton, with whom she's released four popular duets, including "You Make It Feel Like Christmas," "Nobody But You," "Happy Anywhere," and "Purple Irises."**
