The Aggies highlighted the duo's production Tuesday on social media, recognizing both middle blockers for leading the conference in separate statistical categories. According to the team's graphic, Sharp averages 1.36 blocks per set across all matches, ranking first in the SEC. Castle also averages 1.36 blocks per set against conference opponents, giving Texas A&M the league leader in SEC-only play.
The recognition comes after Castle earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors following two strong performances against ranked opponents. The junior recorded a season-high 12 blocks in Texas A&M's four-set victory over No. 6 Tennessee before adding five more in Sunday's three-set loss to No. 14 Texas.
Castle's performance against Tennessee was particularly impressive, as her 12 blocks ranked among the best four-set totals in program history. The Aggies finished the victory with a season-high 16 team blocks, helping secure another significant win over a top-10 opponent.
Sharp has also been instrumental in Texas A&M's defensive success. Her ability to disrupt opposing attacks has given head coach Jamie Morrison another dependable presence in the middle, complementing Castle's recent production.
The combination could become increasingly important as Texas A&M enters the final stretch of its SEC schedule. The Aggies are 14-9 overall and 7-4 in conference play, with another ranked road matchup awaiting Friday against Vanderbilt. With the NCAA Tournament approaching, Texas A&M's blocking ability remains one of its most valuable assets as the Aggies look to build momentum and improve their postseason positioning.
