A funeral sets the stage for a powerful conversation about blood, legacy and family on Days of Our Lives next week, according to the show's latest promo.
In the weekly promo released on the series' official YouTube channel, viewers see E.J. DiMera's (Dan Feuerriegel) reacting to the news that his son Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and daughter-in-law Chanel DiMera (Raven Bowens) are expecting a baby.
"The baby she's carrying, is a DiMera," E.J. joyfully exclaims to his son in the weekly preview.
Johnny pushes back, reminding his father that blood alone does not define family. "The son I already have is a DiMera," Johnny tells him.

The Story So Far
Johnny and Chanel's journey towards parenthood has been complicated. In a previous storyline, Chanel lost a pregnancy after being trapped in an ice storm. Doctors later warned her that future pregnancies could pose serious health risks, advising her not to conceive again for a period of time.
The couple later turned to adoption and became attached to the idea of raising a baby believed to be the child of Johnny's cousin Tate Black (Leo Howard) and Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd).
Johnny eventually withdrew from the process after learning new details around his own conception, creating tension and uncertainty for everyone involved.
It was later revealed that Tata was not the baby's biological father. After time and reflection, Johnny recommitted to adoption, and he and Chanel were ultimately awarded custody of that child, whom they named John "Trey" DiMera, in honor of Johnny's late grandfather John Black (Drake Hogestyn).
More recently, Chanel learned she is pregnant again. Despite the increased health risks discussed in the storyline, she has decided to carry the pregnancy to term.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Boatman and Bowens would be exiting their roles. Due to Days of Our Lives' advance production schedule, their scenes are expected to continue airing through 2026 and potentially into 2027.
