Jodie Sweetin thinks Lori Loughlin's life has been improved by having a less full house.

Loughlin recently made headlines with her stunning new look, with many believing the 61-year-old actress and her 26-year-old daughter, Olivia Jade Giannulli, looked like twins. And Sweetin, her* Full House* niece, doesn't think it's a coincidence that Loughlin "looks absolutely amazing" after separating from longtime husband Mossimo Giannulli.

“She looks gorgeous," Sweetin told *Us Weekly*. Then, with a wink, she added, "There’s nothing like dropping some dead weight to get you back out there looking cute."

In October, Loughlin announced her separation from the clothing designer, with whom she'd been married since 1997 and shares three children. "They are living apart and taking a break from their marriage," a rep for Loughlin told PEOPLE. "There are no legal proceedings at this time."

The couple had previously weathered the storm of being embroiled in the college admissions scandal nicknamed Operation Varsity Blues, in which 33 parents of applicants to various colleges were accused of paying $25 million to William Rick Singer for bribes and manipulated documents that would ensure their children were admitted to their schools of choice.

Loughlin and Giannulli were arrested after an investigation by the FBI alleged that they had paid $500,000 to make their offspring appear to be recruits for the crew team at the University of Southern California, despite the fact that the girls didn't take part in the crew team. Both parents entered guilty pleas in the case: Loughlin was sentenced to two months in jail, while Giannulli was given five months behind bars.

Loughlin's friend and *Full House* husband, John Stamos, said last year that "she didn't deserve to be dragged through that," and when he called to ask her about the scandal, she allegedly replied, "Mossimo handles all that stuff."

"All of a sudden they're split up, and I know she's she's just devastated," Stamos said of Loughlin's split from Giannulli. "And for a girl who has lived her life really well, a good person, a good mother, a good wife," Stamos said. "I know all this for a fact. And to be thrown into now this separation and exploding, blowing up her family this way. And I just hate to see her go through this, I really do."
