A PRIVATE schoolboy took his own life after Nigerian scammers threatened to share nude Snapchat photographs.
Dinal De Alwis, 16, was an A* student and had simply started sixth type when he disappeared from his family house in October 2022.
The teenager, a eager footballer and rugby player, had been hoping to study economics at Cambridge.
But days after a family vacation to Majorca, he had been contacted via Snapchat from a person considered from Nigeria.
Dinal acquired two footage of himself and was informed they might be sent to "all his online followers" until he paid the person £100.
The "golden boy" scholar ate dinner together with his family as normal on the night time of his demise, but left the household residence in Sutton, south London, at round 2am.
Dinal, who assumed the photographs had already been shared on-line, then recorded a quick video earlier than taking his personal life.

An inquest into his dying at South London Coroner's Court heard how Dinal had been a pupil on the prestigious £48,000-a-year Whitgift Faculty in Croydon.
Following straight A* grades in his GCSEs, having also been prime of the varsity in English and economics, Dinal attended an open day at Cambridge with the ambition of learning on the university following school.
But his family observed he appeared out of character days after their trip to Majorca, telling his mum to "just depart me alone".
It subsequently emerged that he had been contacted by a blackmailer, who had sent him two bare pictures at 1am.
The inquest heard they advised Dinal: "So you assume blocking me can stop me?
"What would you like me to do – you need me to send to all your followers? Why can't you just pay me? £100?"
Dinal responded to the message indicating his belief the pictures had already been shared.
The teenager left his house at round 2am before recording himself walking along a road.
In the video, addressed to his mother and father and siblings, he stated he was planning to kill himself.
Cops and the Nationwide Crime Company have since informed the household they have been unable to track the blackmailer.
Nevertheless, they're understood to consider he operates from Nigeria.
Kaushallya informed his son's inquest he was "probably the most caring son" and "didn't show any kind of unhappiness".
He believes Dinal "needed to avoid any disgrace" and described his tragic demise as "the most important attainable loss".
Kaushallya stated he thinks a woman might have taken the photographs of his son, before they ended up in the arms of the blackmailer.
But he also explained that he's aware blackmailers will pose online as engaging ladies and demand bare pictures earlier than demanding cash to refrain from posting them online.
The coroner dominated Dinal's dying a suicide.
A spokesperson for Snapchat stated: "Any sexual exploitation of younger individuals is abhorrent and our hearts exit to the family and pals of the sufferer in this case.
"We work in multiple ways to detect and stop any such abuse and work with police to help investigations.
"We now have additional protections for beneath 18s together with a particular reporting category if somebody is threatening to share sexual content material.
"Our Family Centre also allows mother and father to see who their teens are talking to."
