Post Malone is definitely doing “better now” after landing one of the biggest stages in the world.

The Grammy-nominated singer and rapper, 31, has been announced as the headliner for the FIFA World Cup 2026 closing ceremony, where he will perform ahead of the tournament final at New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, July 19.

The ceremony will celebrate the conclusion of the 39-day tournament, which will bring together 48 teams across 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico and the United States. The show will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET, 90 minutes before kickoff, and will bring together music, culture and football for a global celebration before the tournament’s champions are crowned.

Malone’s addition to the event comes as the artist continues his run as one of music’s biggest crossover stars. The nine-time diamond-certified performer has built a career by blending genres, from hip-hop and pop to country.

His latest album, F-1 Trillion, marked his debut country project and landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. His catalog includes diamond-certified hits such as “Rockstar,” “I Fall Apart,” “Psycho,” “White Iverson,” “Better Now,” “Congratulations,” “Circles” and “Sunflower,” which became the highest-certified single in RIAA history.

“At a time when sport, culture and global attention converge, Post Malone will deliver a performance designed to celebrate the tournament’s journey and ignite the atmosphere before the world’s attention turns to the two finalists,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a press release.

Malone will join a previously announced lineup of entertainment stars appearing as part of the closing ceremony, including Tom Cruise, Jennifer Hudson, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams and IShowSpeed.

The World Cup Final will also feature the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final halftime show, with Shakira, Madonna, BTS, Justin Bieber and Coldplay among the artists set to take the stage. The 11-minute performance was curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

“We are thrilled to have so many stars taking to the pitch, from both the football and entertainment worlds,” Infantino said. “The closing ceremony will set the tone for a historic FIFA World Cup final, uniting the passion of 48 teams, 16 host cities and millions of fans on one unforgettable stage.”

The FIFA World Cup Final will be broadcast live from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with kickoff at 3 p.m. ET.
