(NewsNation) — After much back and forth, Meghan Markle and her two children are returning to the United Kingdom.
The Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are expected to arrive this week, according to The Telegraph. Markle is not expected to make any public engagements or attend the Invictus Games with Harry on Friday.

The family originally planned to arrive in the country together earlier this week. However, Markle and the kids backed out due to security concerns after police denied their request for taxpayer-funded protection. Harry still made the trip because a court issued a final ruling in his legal battle against the Daily Mail.
Invitation to stay at Buckingham Palace rescinded
There was also some family drama after the royals rescinded an invitation for the Duke of Sussex to stay at Buckingham Palace during this trip. Sources told the BBC Harry didn’t accept the invitation in time, a claim Harry and his team deny, according to People magazine.
With Markle and the children now visiting, hopes for a much-desired reunion with the king have been raised. So far, no word of any visit has been released.

The family has rarely been back to Britain since the duke and duchess stepped away from their royal duties and moved to California.
Last time King Charles saw his grandchildren
Markle was last in Britain for the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022. Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, haven’t been to the country since the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in February 2022. That was also the last time King Charles saw his grandchildren.

In September 2025, Harry and Charles reunited in person after a year and a half apart. Harry was pictured arriving at Charles’ London home, Clarence House.
