Erling Haaland's 2026 World Cup campaign didn't yield an international trophy or a Golden Boot, but his return to Norway was like an Oscar-winning film.
When Haaland got off Norway's team plane, he was carrying a taxidermy raccoon that resembled the one from Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. But Haaland's energy was more like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective than the 2022 $140 million blockbuster.
A video of Haaland arriving in Oslo surfaced, walking down the plane steps with his bags and the stuffed raccoon. He reportedly bought the raccoon at Wild Bill's Western Store in Dallas before his World Cup exit.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the death of South Africa World Cup midfielder Jayden Adams.

The unusual souvenir matched the playful mood of Haaland’s time in America, which also doubled as a travel vlog for his 3 million YouTube subscribers.

The Norwegian striker released four vlogs during the games, including "Haaland Taking Over America" and "Norway's Texas Takeover." Both videos earned a combined 12 million views in less than two weeks.
Haaland even joked about the raccoon on X, writing, "It followed me home." He asked his 60 million Instagram followers to help name his new 'pet' and made a poll with the options Cowboy, Ranger, TEX, and R.O.W. (Raccoon on Wheels).

Norway made it to the quarterfinals, pulled off a surprise win over Brazil in the Round of 16, and saw Haaland become one of the tournament’s biggest stars before England knocked them out.
Haaland scored two goals against Iraq, two against Senegal, one against the Ivory Coast, and two more in Norway’s 2-1 upset over Brazil. He ended the World Cup with seven goals, no assists, 20 shots, 13 on target, and played 465 minutes in five starts.
The only match Haaland didn’t score in was the quarterfinal loss to England, where he played 105 minutes. At the same time, his social media following grew rapidly thanks to his goals and viral moments.

Haaland reportedly gained over 22 million Instagram followers and went from 40 million to more than 60 million. He picked up 3.3 million of those in just 24 hours after Norway’s win over Brazil and has seen over 400 babies born with his name.
Fans loved seeing Haaland embrace the Texas theme after Norway’s win over the Ivory Coast. He tried on cowboy hats and bought Western gear with his teammates before the raccoon joined the group.
Manchester City’s preseason has already started, and players are back at the City Football Academy. The club has friendlies lined up against Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea.
