Alan Ritchson, star of the action series Reacher, will not face criminal charges after he was captured on video engaging in a physical fight with a neighbor on Sunday, March 22.
Authorities in Tennessee determined that Ritchson was acting in self-defense in the altercation, Entertainment Weekly reported, citing the Brentwood Police Department.
"After reviewing available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities determined that no criminal charges will be pursued," Brentwood Police Captain Steven Pepin told EW. "Mr. Ritchson's actions were found to be in self-defense."
Pepin told the outlet that Brentwood police considered "a potential reckless endangerment charge," but that Ritchson declined to press charges against the neighbor. The case has been closed, per EW, citing police.
In the footage, published on Sunday, March 22 by TMZ, the War Machine actor, 43, can be seen hitting another man, as two kids sit on their own motorbikes in the road. Another bike, presumably belonging to Ritchson, was lying in the middle of the road during some of the altercation. After throwing a few punches, the actor then retrieved his helmet and picked up the bike. The other man continued to confront him in the footage before Ritchson and the two children drove away.
The man later identified himself to TMZ as Ronnie Taylor, and claimed that the fight began because of the speed in which Ritchson was riding through the neighborhood on his motorcycle. He told the outlet that Ritchson "kicked the crap out" of him.
PEOPLE reached out to a rep for Ritchson and to local authorities for comment.

While Taylor told the outlet he flipped off Ritchson on Saturday, he said the Reacher star returned around 12 p.m. the following day when he asked the actor if he can "f---ing stop this please."
Speaking to TMZ, Taylor admitted to pushing Ritchson, and claimed that the actor punched him in the face, sharing photos of his alleged injuries with the outlet. He alleged the actor struck him "at least four times" while he was on the ground. Although the video of the incident appears to show Ritchson punching him three times.
"I don't wish the guy any malice or ill will, we just don't need people riding through neighborhoods like this," Taylor told TMZ.

The Blue Mountain State alum, who shares three kids with wife Catherine Ritchson, is known for participating in physically demanding stunts in his work. After Reacher wrapped its third season in March 2025, the actor, who stars as Jack Reacher in the series, revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the season's finale fight tired him out for a day and a half. The scene, he said, featured his character getting "ragdolled for five minutes straight."
"I was like, 'This is fun. I like that this is the idea for everybody right now.' And I get the bright idea to shoot a stunt in a way, because I was like, 'I want the audience to know that I'm doing this for us. I'm taking one for Reacher and we're all in this together,' " he said at the time.
Ritchson, who has operated motorcycles for Reacher, has also documented his love of vehicles on social media. In January, he shared a clip of a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R to Instagram, asking for fan suggestions to name it.
