My Wife and Kids aired on ABC for four seasons from March 28, 2001, to May 17, 2005, becoming a cultural touchstone and stand-out among other early 2000s sitcoms.
The comedy starred Damon Wayans Sr. as Michael Kyle, the "traditional" father trying to have it all with his wife, Jay Kyle, played by Tisha Campbell, as they raise three kids in Connecticut.

Damon Wayans Sr. as Michael Kyle

Damon Wayans Sr. had already made a name for himself before starring in My Wife and Kids, previously landing roles in In Living Color, Damon and Saturday Night Live.
After My Wife and Kids ended, he went on to have a recurring role on Lethal Weapon, starred on The Underground and co-created Poppa's House with his son, Damon Wayans Jr.
He also starred in movies like Farce of the Penguins, Cinnamon and the documentary Why We Laugh: Black Comedians on Black Comedy.
He was married to Lisa Thorner from 1984 until their divorce in 2000. The exes share four children: Damon Wayans Jr., Michael Wayans, Cara Wayans and Kyla Wayans.
In January 2014, the actor was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, but shared in 2025 that he has "gotten control" of the chronic disease through lifestyle changes.
In December 2015, he also successfully underwent brain surgery to remove a benign tumor on his pituitary gland.

Tisha Campbell as Janet 'Jay' Kyle

Tisha Campbell played Jay Kyle, who frequently had to put up with Michael's antics, but ultimately supported him throughout the show.
By the time Campbell joined the show, she had already become known in Hollywood for her leading role on Martin and a robust music career after getting her big break in the 1986 musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors at 18.
After My Wife and Kids, Campbell starred in Rita Rocks, Everybody Hates Chris, The Protector and the Disney Channel original film, Lemonade Mouth. She also joined the cast of Dr. Ken for two seasons.
She has a long list of credits, including movies such as Blindspotting, The Simone Biles Story: Courage to Soar and Not Another Church Movie, along with TV shows like Empire, The Bold and the Beautiful, Last Man Standing, Uncoupled and The Ms. Pat Show.
In 2019, she also released the single, "22 Summers."
Most recently, in February 2026, Campbell announced her new memoir, The A Word: A Mother's Journey Through Autism and Love, which examines her son Xen's journey with autism.
In August 1996, Campbell married actor Duane Martin, but she filed for divorce in February 2018. The exes, who share two sons, finalized their divorce in December 2020.

George Gore II had been building a steady career of roles before being cast as Michael Kyle Jr.
Having played mostly serious characters before, it was an adjustment to land a comedic role, but he flourished in it nonetheless, later being nominated for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
After My Wife and Kids, he starred in Dance Flick and portrayed a fictionalized version of himself in Second Generation Wayans. He also did voice work in the animated series Thugaboo and A Boo Crew Christmas.
He also co-wrote the screenplay for the 2022 Disney+ musical comedy Sneakerella, which was a retelling of the fairy tale Cinderella.
Gore has received four NAACP Image Award nominations.

Parker McKenna Posey as Kady Kyle

Parker McKenna Posey played the youngest daughter, Kady Kyle, on My Wife and Kids.
After the show, she starred in movies such as Summer Camp, We Are Gathered Here Today, The Assistant and The Assistant 2. She also had roles on iCarly, Games People Play and A House Divided.
In May 2021, Parker announced that she had given birth to a daughter. The actress has since built a large following online, where she shares glimpses into her life.

Jennifer Freeman as Claire Kyle

Jennifer Freeman played Claire Kyle after Jazz Raycole left the role following season 1.
At the time, Freeman also appeared in 7th Heaven, Even Stevens and Lizzie McGuire. She has had consistent work on various films and television shows since My Wife and Kids ended, joining the cast of The Black Hamptons in 2022 and movies like A Royal Surprise, A Royal Christmas Surprise and Blended Christmas.
From 2013 to 2016, she was in the main cast of the reality television series Real Husbands of Hollywood. In 2017, Freeman starred in True to the Game.
She released a self-help book, Journey to Loving Yourself, in 2018.
In 2009, Freeman married basketball player Earl Watson and they share a daughter. They separated in August 2010, briefly reconciled in 2011, and divorced in March 2015.

Noah Gray-Cabey as Franklin Mumford

Noah Gray-Cabey's first television role was on My Wife and Kids, portraying Franklin Mumford, for which he won a Young Artists Award.
He's since had roles on TV shows like Heroes, Grey's Anatomy, CSI: Miami, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Ghost Whisperer. In 2021, he joined the CW drama All American.
