Reese Witherspoon is paying tribute to James Van Der Beek as his last on screen role is set for the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series.
"Devastated to hear about James Van Der Beek," she shared on her Instagram story on Wednesday, Feb. 11. "What an extraordinary, talented man who also showed great kindness and grace in every action. Praying all the angels watch over his family during this difficult time."
Van Der Beek was cast in a recurring guest starring role on the upcoming television series, Elle, which follows the titular character of the film Legally Blonde during her high school days.

The prequel series will allow audiences to, "learn about the life experiences that shaped her [Elle] into the iconic young woman we came to know and love."
Witherspoon's production company, Hello Sunshine, will be producing the television series and Lexi Minetree will be starring as Elle.

Elle will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, July 1.
