Dancing With the Stars just aired its first-ever holiday special, but instead of spreading cheer, it left many fans feeling disappointed.

Shortly after Dancing With The Holidays aired on Tuesday, Dec. 2, fans of the competition series took to Reddit to share their thoughts on the episode. The special was filmed on Nov. 9 while season 34 was still airing — a decision many fans found to be a bad idea.

"I wish we got more current performances and not a lot of flashbacks. I think filming this while the season was ongoing (and some pros were still competing) wasn't a good idea, as it probably just added to their stress of having to perform in another special not related to the competition," wrote one fan.

"Not dogging on the pros at all, I know they did the best they could with the time they were given, but it was hard not to notice the little mistakes here and there. I wish it was filmed after the season aired or even live tonight just to give the pros a few more days to rehearse without the stress of the season still airing," said another.

"Half the hour was ads and the other half was recycled routines. Just push the special back a week or two, give the cast real rehearsal time, and let us see more new dances," added a third.

Others called the special — which featured a mix of new routines and re-runs of old performances — "a hot mess," claiming it "wasn't rehearsed" and that all of the dancers were "messing up."

Despite the overwhelming criticism, fans found the Hanukkah dance, choreographed by Alan Bersten, to be a highlight of the show.

"THANK YOU ALAN for the HANUKKAH DANCE and celebrating/representing the JEWISH COMMUNITY!! LOVED IT!" wrote one fan. "Thanks to Alan and to the show for the representation 🕎." commented another.

"He did such a great job choreographing that number! So many fun moments and really specific moves that were very creative!" added a third.
