It just didn't work out and we were dealing with the fires and everything that was going on and the schedule didn't work out, unfortunately, Dempsey, 59, told Variety in an interview published on Sunday, March 2, referring to the wildfires that devastated areas surrounding Los Angeles in January. News that Dempsey would not return to the Scream franchise after his role as detective Mark Kincaid in 2000's Scream 3.
