The incident is claimed to have "concerned terraced houses" in the Fishpool space a 200 metre cordon is in place, MEN reports

"Multiple" emergency service automobiles, together with hearth engines, are at the scene on Nelson Road.

Councillor Tamoor Tariq, who represents Redvales Ward, says the "terrible" incident happened close to to St Luke's main faculty.

Mr Tariq, at present overseas, added: "Heartbreaking to share there was a fuel explosion in the previous few minutes proper throughout from my home.

"St Luke's main have also evacuated youngsters, as they're simply yards away."

Higher Manchester Police stated: "Emergency providers are at present responding to stories of an explosion at a property on Nelson Road in the Fishpool space of Bury.

"At this stage, a lady in her 70s has been taken to hospital with critical injuries.

"A 200m cordon is in place across the property and neighbouring houses.

"Native residents and the group can be informed if they should take any further action."

A fireplace brigade spokesperson stated: "A number of hearth engines from throughout Higher Manchester together with the technical response unit from Ashton hearth station are presently in attendance at an incident involving terraced homes on Nelson Road in Bury.

"Firefighters are working alongside Larger Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service and residents are requested to avoid the world presently."
