Tourette syndrome activist John Davidson is breaking his silence after making headlines for shouting a racial slur at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards,

Davidson, whose life inspired the BAFTA-winning film *I Swear*, is in the news after inadvertently yelling the N-word while *Sinners* stars Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were presenting an award during the first half of Sunday's ceremony. In a statement addressing the incident on Monday, Davidson reiterated that his verbal tics and uncontrollable swearing, which are symptoms of Tourette's, are involuntary.

"I wanted to thank BAFTA and everyone involved in the awards last night for their support and understanding and inviting me to attend the broadcast," Davidson began in a statement to Deadline. "I appreciated the announcement to the auditorium in advance of the recording, warning everyone that my tics are involuntary and are not a reflection of my personal beliefs. I was heartened by the round of applause that followed this announcement and felt welcomed and understood in an environment that would normally be impossible for me."

Davidson went on to state that he is and always has been "deeply mortified if anyone considers my involuntary tics to be intentional or to carry any meaning."

He continued, "I have spent my life trying to support and empower the Tourette's community and to teach empathy, kindness and understanding from others and I will continue to do so."

Davidson additionally noted that he "chose to leave the auditorium early" of his own volition in acknowledgement of "the distress my tics were causing."

** has reached out to representatives for Davidson for comment.

Prior to the start of the ceremony, the event's stage manager introduced Davidson to the audience and alerted attendees that they might hear some "involuntary noises or movements" during the ceremony. Later, after audience members and those on stage reacted to the racial slur with shock, host Alan Cumming addressed Davidson's outbursts and apologized "if you are offended tonight."

Davidson's Monday statement was accompanied by a statement from CEO of Tourettes Action Emma McNally, who wrote, "We deeply understand that these words can cause hurt but at the same time, it is vital that the public understands a fundamental truth about Tourette syndrome: tics are involuntary. They are not a reflection of a person's beliefs, intentions, or character."

McNally continued, "People with Tourette's can say words or phrases they do not mean, do not endorse, and feel great distress about afterwards. These symptoms are neurological, not intentional, and they are something John – like many others with Tourette's – lives with every single day… We hope that those commenting will take the time to watch the film, learn about Tourette's, and understand the experiences behind moments like these. Education is key, and compassion makes a world of difference."

Fans and stars alike spoke out following the Sunday incident, in addition to criticizing BBC for including the slur in the tape-delayed broadcast of the ceremony, which was aired two hours later.

The British Academy of Film and Television took "full responsibility" for the incident in a Monday statement shared with EW, which read, "We take the duty of care to all our guests very seriously and start from a position of inclusion. "

The British Academy went on to "apologize unreservedly" to Jordan and Lindo, thanking them for "their incredible dignity and professionalism."

It concluded, "We take full responsibility for putting our guests in a very difficult situation and we apologize to all.  We will learn from this, and keep inclusion at the core of all we do, maintaining our belief in film and storytelling as a critical conduit for compassion and empathy."

The statement came hours after Lindo addressed the incident while speaking to *Vanity Fair* at a Warner Brothers' after-party. The actor noted that he and Jordan "did what we had to do" while presenting, but admitted that he wished "someone from BAFTA spoke to us afterwards."**

Tim Gunn knows what he wants — and doesn't want.

The fashion maven and *Project Runway *alum has been celibate for 43 years, a lifestyle choice he opened up about on a recent episode of the *Dear Chelsea *podcast.**

Joking that the full story would "keep a psychiatrist very busy," Gunn explained that his celibacy stems from "a very serious nine-year relationship in Washington, D.C.," that he had from the mid-1970s into the early '80s.

"I loved this person deeply and would have done anything for him, and I still remember the night that it all ended. We were in bed watching *M*A*S*H*. It was the first run, and he said to me, 'I have no patience for you any longer. I want you to leave,'" Gunn recalled. "I had my own apartment, but I had been living with him for years. And I left. I drove to my apartment on Rock Creek Parkway. And I had to pull off, because I was hyperventilating. I was beside myself with self-flagellation and self-pity, and it was awful."**

But more factored into Gunn's decision to remove himself entirely from the dating market than mere heartbreak.

"One of the things that he told me that night was that he had been sleeping with just about everything that walked by," he explained. "I had been loyal and faithful to him. He was the only person I had ever been with, and this is the advent of AIDS. It's 1982."

According to Gunn, the initial "self-pity" he felt transformed, due to the social context, into "completely unbridled anger, because I thought he may have given me a death sentence. I was tested every six months for 10 years for HIV, and thankfully, I had a clean slate." But when it came to future sexual and romantic pursuits, "all this would come back like Niagara Falls, and it would just take the desire away."

*Dear Chelsea *host Chelsea Handler joked that she and Gunn were true "kindred spirits," as she doesn't plan on getting married.

"Imagine the funds we could co-mingle," Handler exclaimed, imagining the two of them as roommates.

But Gunn said that while "being celibate and being someone who lives alone was a bit of an adjustment," now decades into it, he "wouldn't have it any other way."

Gunn is in good company in the Hollywood celibacy club. Lenny Kravitz revealed in 2024 that he hadn't been in a serious relationship in nine years, and while he waits for the right person, he's remaining celibate.

"It's a spiritual thing," he explained. "I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live."**

Smoke filled the sky as the swanky beach town of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, erupted into chaos Sunday after the government killed a drug kingpin.

Shops and cars were set ablaze, allegedly by cartel members. Tourists and residents cowered in fear.

The Mexican military killed Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, known by his nickname "El Mencho," the head of the New Generation drug cartel, Sunday in a shoot-out 180 miles east of Puerto Vallarta, in the same state of Jalisco. Mexico had a $15 million reward for his capture.

A day after the violence broke out, streets were deserted Monday as locals and tourists heeded remain-in-place orders. Schools in several states canceled classes, The reported.

Burned-out shells of vehicles remained on the streets, while damaged stores were heavily scorched from flames, videos showed.

"We saw the taxicabs all blown up and blocking the streets and people running down and towards us," Jim Beck, an American tourist who sheltered in his Puerto Vallarta hotel, told NBC's "TODAY" show. "After this morning was the first time we actually felt fear."

Buses were allegedly set on fire by members of organized crime in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on Sunday. (Reuters) (Reuters)

Marcus Brady, a Chicago resident currently in Puerto Vallarta, shared videos of the violence with NBC News. He said he thought the cartel's intent was to send a message to the Mexican government and American and Canadian tourists that, "If we want to, we will take complete control of everything and everyone here, no one can stop us."

He said the violence happened in two waves starting early Sunday morning. First, a few cars were set on fire on the main road and bridges in and out of the Zona Romántica area of Puerto Vallarta, he said, with much of that taking place in an area behind foothills.

"When those fires were going out, everyone thought it was over. I know I did. So many of us thought it OK to venture out and I decided to walk down to the boardwalk, through the zone," Brady said.

But the second wave was the worst, targeted inside the zone, he said. Brady said he mistook buses and taxis positioned at intersections as barricades to prevent violence, but they had been put there by the cartel during the night. "And when the second wave started, they coordinated setting them on fire, so it would last all day. The intention was to terrify," he said.

A video from NBC Dallas-Fort Worth showed several cars in the parking lot of a Costco set ablaze.

Yoni Pizer told NBC Chicago that he, his husband and friends had to run for their lives to escape what he said were members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in Puerto Vallarta.

"The gunmen were following us and they were shooting," Pizer said. "And they were attacking cars and pulling out drivers. At that point, we just ran as fast as we could." His SUV was torched, but a passerby helped them get away.

Video on social media from Sunday showed sirens blaring and passengers and workers running through the airport in Puerto Vallarta. It was unclear why the sirens went off or why people were running. Images showed a long line of people hiding behind ticket counters.

Road closures affected some travelers' ability to get to airports, according to U.S. and Mexican embassy and consulate officials.

Steven Polito, a drag performer who divides his time between New York City and Puerto Vallarta, said in an essay for Business Insider that he was struck by how "unusually quiet it was" when he went to gym at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

"When I left around 10:00 a.m., it was a very different scene," Polito said. "Everyday life was juxtaposed against horrendous property against horrendous property damage. There was an older woman sweeping leaves in the street, while burned-out car after burned-out car was in flames."

Over at Guadalajara International Airport, officials said, the violence in the nearby cities did not affect their operations. It said social media reports did not reflect what was happening at the airport.

But the violence was not confined to Puerto Vallarta.

Jalisco's capital, Guadalajara, appeared deserted Sunday night as civilians hunkered down. Authorities later announced they had cleared most of the more than 250 cartel roadblocks across 20 states.

Omar Casillas was running a half marathon, about to cross the finish line when things became chaotic. He began getting texts from his family telling him to "barricade the door, pack all your stuff, be ready to leave if you need to, if you have the chance to," NBC Chicago reported.

Casillas' flight out of Guadalajara's airport was canceled.

A video posted online shows a customs booth in Reynosa, Mexico, about 5 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border, filled with flames and smoke.

Trump weighs strikes against Iran for nuclear program he says he 'obliterated'

Hours after the U.S. military dropped more than a dozen heavy bunker-busting bombs and Tomahawk missiles on three of Iran's major nuclear facilities in June, President Donald Trump declared the operation a "spectacular military success."

"Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated," Trump said in an address to the nation.

The Pentagon backed up Trump's assessment.

Trump considering initial limited strike against Iran, source says

"It's delayed by one to two years. I think we're thinking probably closer to two years," chief spokesperson Sean Parnell told reporters in July.

Now, eight months later, the president is once again weighing military strikes against Iran with the administration providing shifting explanations on the goals. In recent weeks, Trump has said he wanted to stop Tehran's recent deadly crackdown on protestors -- which he said ended at his behest -- as well to curb Iran's ballistic missile arsenal and its nuclear program.

Last week, Trump gave Iran 15 days to cut a deal that would prohibit Iran from enriching uranium. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi refused, saying the country has the right to a nuclear program, which he says is for peaceful purposes.

This weekend, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff suggested the urgency has to do with Iran being dangerously close to obtaining enough highly enriched uranium to make a bomb.

"They're probably a week away from having industrial-grade, bomb-making material, and that's really dangerous. So, [we] can't have that," Witkoff said in an interview with Fox News that aired on Saturday.

But analysts and international inspectors say Iran's access to highly enriched uranium has been a concern for several months already, along with satellite imagery suggesting that Iran is trying to rebuild. An exact picture of Iran's nuclear program is unclear because Iran blocked international inspectors from accessing the sites after the June bombing.

When asked why the president is focusing on cutting an urgent deal on a nuclear program he says he obliterated months ago, a White House official said "the President has been clear that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons or the capacity to build them, and that they cannot enrich uranium."

Last summer, an early classified assessment by the Defense Intelligence Agency concluded the three nuclear sites bombed by the U.S. weren't completely destroyed, leaving much of the materials buried but intact.

Likewise, Rafael Grossi, head of the U.N.'s International Atomic Energy Agency, said in a February interview with the French television network TFI that he believes much Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium likely remains at the sites bombed by the U.S.

According to a translation, Grossi said "some of it [the enriched uranium] may be less accessible, but the material is still there."

The IAEA estimates that some 972 pounds of highly enriched uranium remained unaccounted for following the U.S. bombing.

Analysts say a more critical question about Iran is whether the regime has made a decision on how quickly to move toward trying to build a bomb.

In a recent analysis, the Institute for Science and International Security estimated the current probability that the Iranian regime would decide to build a nuclear weapon at 40 to 50 percent.

If Iran decides to move ahead, the group says, its success in building a weapon would probably be even lower -- less than 15% in a short period of time, and 42% over a longer timeframe.

"The war saw the destruction of its gas centrifuge program and much of its nuclear weaponization facilities," according to the group's analysis.

"Nonetheless, important remnants and knowledge remain that could form the core of small gas centrifuge enrichment and nuclear weaponization capabilities," the report added.

How bunker-busters and B-2 stealth bombers struck at the heart of Iran's nuclear program

ABC News confirmed last week that among the options Trump is considering is a limited strike against Iran to force its hand negotiating. If that doesn't work, Trump could pursue a possible sustained military operation intended to topple the regime -- a campaign that could last weeks and pose risks to the 30,000 to 40,000 U.S. troops stationed in the region, experts say.

Trump pushed back Monday against media reports that his top military adviser, Gen. Dan Caine, privately cautioned that a lack of munitions and support from allies could pose risks to U.S. troops.

"General Caine, like all of us, would like not to see War but, if a decision is made on going against Iran at a Military level, it is his opinion that it will be something easily won," Trump posted on his social media platform.

According to a U.S. official, Tehran was expected to offer a new nuclear proposal by Tuesday ahead of another round of negotiations in Geneva led by Witkoff on Thursday. The meeting would be the second round of indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran, with Omanis and Qataris passing notes between the delegations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened Iran during a speech to the Knesset on Monday, warning the Iranian ayatollah if Iran strikes Israel, "we will respond with a force they cannot even imagine," according to remarks of his speech google translated from Hebrew to English.

"No one knows what the day will bring. We are vigilant, we are prepared for any scenario," Netanyahu said.

ABC News' Shannon Kingston and Jordana Miller contributed to this report.

- William Shatner tells EW he "worshipped" Spencer Tracy before working with him on 1961's *Judgment at Nuremberg*.

- The *Star Trek* actor says that he complimented Tracy on a monologue scene by telling him, "You learned lines!"

- Shatner says that Tracy didn't appreciate the comment: "He never spoke to me again."

William Shatner complimented one of his heroes on the set of an Oscar-winning movie — and accidentally offended him so deeply that they never talked again.

The *Star Trek* actor worked alongside Spencer Tracy on the 1961 classic *Judgment at Nuremberg*, and tells ** that he completely fumbled his attempt to praise the legendary actor.

"I worshipped Spencer Tracy," Shatner says. "And he was very aloof."

In the film, Shatner portrayed Captain Harrison Byers, a young officer assigned as an assistant to Tracy's Chief Judge Dan Haywood as he presides over the Nuremberg Trials. The film features numerous long-winded monologues, including one delivered by Tracy that astounded Shatner on set.

"One day, he did a speech, and he knew it completely," Shatner remembers. "And I was amazed that a movie actor would not do [multiple] takes or have it written out for him."

The *Boston Legal *star wanted to praise his hero for his performance after the scene was complete. "So I did approach him — I said, 'Mr. Tracy, I just want to express my admiration that you learned lines!'" he says.

Tracy didn't take kindly to Shatner's comment. "He looked at me, and he said, 'I was on the stage before you were born, son,'" he recalls. "And he left. He never spoke to me again."

Shatner laughs at the memory of his faux pas. "I alienated him by trying to praise him for memorizing his lines," he says. "Terrible. Foot in the mouth, again."

Tracy received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his work in the film, but ultimately lost to his costar Maximilian Schell, who portrayed German defense attorney Hans Rolfe. The film's screenwriter, Abby Mann, also won the award for Best Adapted Screenplay, and director Stanley Kramer received the non-competitive Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award at the same ceremony.

Judy Garland also received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her turn as Irene Hoffmann in *Judgment at Nuremberg*. Shatner says that Garland was "very fragile" while filming her emotional scenes in the film — a quality that he recognized from seeing her perform on stage in New York City as a young man.

"I kept looking at her thinking, 'My God, she's my heroine. And I think she's drunk,'" he remembers of Garland's live performance. "I was a teenager. I thought, 'Why, she can't possibly be drunk on stage!' And, well, she was, and made no sense. And I was so disappointed."

Shatner says he was extremely impressed with Garland when they shared the screen years later. "She was an enormous talent," Shatner says. "And when she came on to do her scene, I hadn't seen anything of her since that experience so many years ago. There she was, doing her fragile bit. And it was part of a continuity that I treasure."

The *Practice* star, who had only appeared in a handful of feature films at the time he shot *Judgment at Nuremberg*, still treasures the memories of working on the film, which also starred Burt Lancaster, Richard Widmark, Marlene Dietrich, and Montgomery Clift.

"It was a marvelous, astounding experience for a young actor," he says. "I was new to the movie game then, and here I was amongst all these giants who'd come in for a day or two and be filmed and leave. It was a journey. It was beautiful."

After sitting out the sixth movie in the franchise because of a salary dispute, Neve Campbell is back for *Scream 7*, along with Courteney Cox and first-movie killer Matthew Lillard. How? If we told you, we'd have to kill you. Also joining in on the screams are Joel McHale as Sidney's husband, Mark, and Isabel May as their daughter, Tatum.

Also in theaters, Baz Luhrmann isn't done with the King of Rock & Roll just yet; his new movie *EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert*, is told from Elvis' point of view, via an unearthed 40-minute audio interview and footage from 10 performances plus rehearsals. You've never seen — or heard — Elvis like this.

On TV, *Survivor* is celebrating the big 5-0, as the show and host Jeff Probst welcome back the largest group of returning players, going all the way back to season 1 of *Survivor: Borneo* (Jenna Lewis-Dougherty) up to *Survivor 49 *(newly crowned winner Savannah Louie and her partner in crime Rizo Velovic, who had just 10 days back home between filming seasons).

Plus, the doctors will see you again — *Scrubs* and stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, and more return for the series revival on ABC.

- *A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms* is a *Game of Thrones* prequel about Dunk and Egg, a would-be knight and his diminutive squire.

- Season 2 will adapt George R.R. Martin's *The Sworn Sword*, the second novella in Martin's Dunk and Egg saga.

- The season is currently filming in Ireland and slated to premiere in 2027.

There's more to George R.R. Martin's Westeros than politicking, palace intrigue, and epic fantasy battles — just take a look at *A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms*.

Set between the events of *House of the Dragon* and *Game of Thrones*, the latest *Game of Thrones* spinoff is an underdog story about Dunk "the lunk," an orphaned squire who tries to fake it until he makes it as a proper knight.

The series is based on a trio of novellas Martin penned between 1998 and 2010 about the adventures of Dunk and his own pint-sized, egg-headed squire, Egg. The stories were collected in 2015's *A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms*.

Speaking with ** in 2024, executive producer Ryan Condal described the stories as "wonderful counterpoint to George's world, which was really about the upper crust of the 1 percent: the kings and the high lords and ladies who essentially waged the game of thrones at the expense of the small folk." The stories of Dunk and Egg, he added, are "about the small folk who suffer at the hands of the game of thrones as it's played by the nobles."

The show's six-episode debut season wrapped on Feb. 22, earning critical praise and the admiration of Martin himself. "Dunk and Egg have always been favorites of mine, and the actors we found to portray them are just incredible," he wrote on his personal blog.

We know there are more Dunk and Egg stories, but will there be another season of *A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms*? Here's everything we know about season 2.**

Will there be a season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?

Yes, HBO confirmed that a second season of *A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms* was moving forward in November 2025. As of this writing, it's currently filming in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Martin's franchise is alive and well at HBO, with the network announcing it also greenlit a fourth season of its other *Game of Thrones* prequel, *House of the Dragon*, the third season of which is due out this summer.**

What will A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 be about?

Season 2 of *A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms* will adapt "The Sworn Sword," the second novella in the Dunk and Egg saga.

Following the bloody Trial of Seven and Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) defying his royal family to join Dunk (Peter Claffey) on the road, "The Sworn Sword" finds the pair linking up with an elderly knight as they search for Tanselle (Tanzyn Crawford).

Ahead of the season 1 finale, showrunner Ira Parker spoke with EW about staying true to the episodic nature of the novellas. "It's not that there are uncertain strings that are pulled all the way through, but every season Dunk and Egg are in a new place, we set up a story, we tell you the story, and we close out the story," he said.**

Should the series get renewed for a third season, the plan is to adapt "The Mystery Knight," the third novella collected in Martin's *A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms*. Martin has spoken about writing more Dunk and Egg stories, and Parker is keen to adapt them.

"I'm not sure the end of the third novella is really a stopping place for a series," Parker told EW, adding that "I think these guys have a lot to say in the nature of the relationship and how it changes over the course of a life."**

Who's in the cast of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2?

Steffan Hill/HBO

No official casting has been announced yet for *A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms* season 2, but we do know that Claffey and Ansell are set to return as Dunk and Egg.

In a February 2026 chat with The A.V. Club, Parker noted some of the characters he's excited to dig into in season 2, including Rohanne Webber, Bennis of the Brown Shield, and Ser Eustace** **Osgrey. "I can't say much but we have three absolutely brilliant actors coming in to do these roles," he said.

There's been speculation about former Superman actor and *The Witcher* star Henry Cavill joining season 2, due in part to an offhand comment made by Ansell during a Comic-Con panel.

Claffey, however, took to his Instagram to call it a "complete misunderstanding," clarifying that Ansell's slip of the tongue had "nothing to do with Henry Cavill coming into the show or the *GOT* universe (I wish!)."**

*A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms* season 2 is currently scheduled to debut in 2027.**
