Just days after Eric Dane's passing due to his ALS battle, his reported girlfriend Janell Shirtcliff broke her silence and mourned the loss of Euphoria star.

Shirtcliff, a filmmaker and photographer, shared a series of intimate photos and videos on Instagram, showing the late actor smiling, holding her hand, laughing in the car, and even posing playfully as her daughter directed him during a mini photo shoot.

Though her tribute was personal, it was enough to spark a wave of confusion and controversy among online users.

On February 21, Shirtcliff posted what appeared to be deeply personal memories of her relationship with Dane.

The photos featured Dane planting a kiss on her temple, the two holding hands under palm trees, and a candid video of him asking, "Are you taking videos?" before laughing.

The pair had made their red-carpet debut together in 2025 at the "Countdown" premiere, though reports suggested they had been in an on-and-off relationship for over three years.

As reported by Bored Panda, Dane remained legally married to Rebecca Gayheart until his passing. Although Gayheart filed for divorce in 2018, she dismissed the petition in March 2025, just one month before Dane publicly revealed his ALS diagnosis. She later described their bond as "familial," saying they had become better friends and co-parents.

In his final Netflix interview for "Famous Last Words", Dane made it clear how he felt about her.

"We still love each other deeply," he said. "I will have never… fallen in love with another woman as deeply as I fell in love with Rebecca. She's the mother of my children."

That quote quickly resurfaced once Shirtcliff's tribute went viral.

"Girlfriend? I thought he was married and even spoke about his wife in his Famous Last Words episode," one person wrote.

Another added, "Didn't he say in an interview his wife was always the love of his life?"

The internet was divided, as some called Shirtcliff's tribute "distasteful" while others defended her

As news of Shirtcliff's tribute spread, the comment sections turned chaotic.

"Boy guy's body still warm and already you're spreading rumours. Have some shame!" one user snapped.

"Distasteful. She should've kept her side chick shenanigans to herself. Disrespecting his wife and children after his death is gross," another wrote.

Others questioned the timeline of his relationships, "Damn, he had a girlfriend? He said he would never love anyone as much as his wife."

But not everyone was critical, as some defended Shirtcliff for her right to grieve the loss.

"The people closest to loss are always the last ones who should have to say anything publicly and the first ones the world looks to. Whatever she shared took courage," one commenter wrote.

Another tried to clarify, "Him and his wife split since 2018. She just decided to stick by him in his sickness. They have both dated since their split."

Beyond the debate over the girlfriend, a few commenters sparked an online conversation surrounding GoFundMe.

The GoFundMe for Eric Dane sparked a separate debate among online viewers

Shortly after Dane's passing, friends launched a GoFundMe campaign with a $250,000 goal to support his daughters' future needs. Within days, over $170,000 had been raised, including a major donation from "Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson.

Despite that, the fundraiser ignited another round of criticism from netizens.

"Yeah, he was a steady working actor. I like him, but the GoFundMe for him is ridiculous," one person commented.

"Why are famous people creating GoFundMes all of a sudden? Like, this man has been on television and in movies for years," another wrote.

The debate mirrored the controversy that followed a fundraiser set up for the family of James Van Der Beek after his passing on February 11. At the time, critics questioned why a former Hollywood leading man would need to resort to crowdfunding at all.

Supporters, however, argued that medical expenses, especially long-term battles like ALS or cancer, can deplete even successful actors' finances.

"If even celebrities run out of money when they're sick… what happens to the rest of us?" one commenter asked.

Dane left behind two daughters, Billie and Georgia, and an estranged wife, Rebecca Gayheart.

"He may have a girlfriend, but his heart belonged to his wife," wrote one netizen

Key points -

Bill Maher addressed a number of claims Donald Trump made about a dinner that they shared in April: "Bulls---."

Maher confirmed that he didn't understand a joke that Trump recently made about Canada and China: "I think we're gonna have to workshop that one."

The comedian also said that in the next episode of Real Time, he would definitively prove that he does not have Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Bill Maher is responding to Donald Trump's rant about a dinner they shared in April.

On Friday's episode of Real Time, the comedian shared his reaction to the president's scathing Truth Social tirade, which he posted on Feb. 14.

"I woke up Saturday morning to a blistering social media text from him," Maher said. "It went on and on — on Valentine's Day, by the way. He was very mad at me because I didn't get his joke about how China is gonna make Canada give up hockey."

Indeed, Trump's post included a dig about Maher taking his comments about Canada seriously in an episode of Real Time last week.

"I jokingly stated in a TRUTH that, 'The first thing China will do is terminate ALL Ice Hockey being played in Canada, and permanently eliminate The Stanley Cup,'" Trump wrote. "Well, he went on and on about the Hockey statement, like 'What kind of a person would say such a foolish thing as this,' as though I were being serious when I said it. Fortunately, his Television Ratings are so low that nobody will learn about his various Fake News statements about me."

"I think we're gonna have to workshop that one for a while," Maher cracked of the joke.

Trump's post claimed that Maher came to the White House for dinner "extremely nervous" with "ZERO confidence in himself," and claimed that "to soothe his nerves, immediately, within seconds, asked for a 'Vodka Tonic.'"

Maher said that Trump's telling of their meeting was inaccurate.

"Okay, it was a margarita. It was not a vodka," Maher said. "And it wasn't immediately. I had a drink before dinner, as people do. He said I was nervous, scared, no confidence — bulls---."

Trump also said that he thought Maher's first show after the dinner was "very respectful about our meeting," but he subsequently "noticed his show started to devolve into the same old story — Very boring, ANTI TRUMP."

Maher responded with befuddlement that the president assumed their dinner would prevent further criticism on Real Time.

"I never stopped criticizing him," Maher said. "I never said I would! I know how women feel now: A guy buys you dinner and expects you to put out. I'm not that guy."

The comedian also said that when Real Time returns on March 6 after a one-week hiatus, he would respond to Trump's post in further detail — and definitively disprove one of Trump's repeated assertions about him.

"We're gonna come back. I'm gonna address this at the end," Maher said. "His whole long screed, and prove that I don't have Trump Derangement Syndrome."

At the end of the segment, Maher complained that the White House dinner ultimately led to being attacked from all sides.

"It's so funny, because I got so much s--- from the left for reporting honestly that in person, he was very different, very nice, very gracious," he said. "And then he says, 'No, he was scared!' I'm like the Democrats with an election — I just can't win."

Willie Colón, the Grammy-nominated architect of urban salsa music and social activist, died Saturday. He was 75.

Over his decades-long career, the trombonist, composer, arranger and singer produced more than 40 albums that sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. He collaborated with a wide range of artists, including the Fania All Stars, David Byrne and Celia Cruz.

His celebrated collaboration with Rubén Blades, "Siembra," became one of the bestselling salsa albums of all time, and the pair were known for addressing social issues through the genre.

Colón's family and manager confirmed his death through social media posts.

"Willie didn't just change salsa; he expanded it, politicized it, clothed it in urban chronicles, and took it to stages where it hadn't been heard before," manager Pietro Carlos wrote. "His trombone was the voice of the people, an echo of the Caribbean in New York, a bridge between two cultures."

Colón, who was nominated for 10 Grammys and one Latin Grammy, made famous songs such as "El gran varón," "Sin poderte hablar," "Casanova," "Amor verdad" and "Oh, qué será."

Blades said on the social platform X that he confirmed "what I was reluctant to believe" and offered his condolences to Colón's family.

The path to the trombone — and fame

Born in New York's Bronx borough, Colón was raised by his grandmother and aunt, who from a young age nurtured him with traditional Puerto Rican music and the typical rhythms of the Latin American repertoire, including Cuban son and tango.

At age 11 he ventured into the world of music, first with flute, then bugle, trumpet and finally trombone, with which he stood out in the then-nascent genre of salsa.

His interest in trombone arose after hearing Barry Rogers playing it on "Dolores," Mon Rivera's song with Joe Cotto.

"It sounded like an elephant, a lion ... an animal. Something so different that, as soon as I heard it, I said to myself: 'I want to play that instrument,'" he recalled in an interview published in the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo in 2011.

At 17 he joined the group of artists that formed the famous record label Fania Records, led and created by Jerry Masucci and Johnny Pacheco. Fania was largely responsible for the new sound that was produced in the Latin world of New York and would later be called "salsa."

Colón's main characteristic as a musician was the fusion of rhythms, as he harmonized jazz, rock, funk, soul and R&B with the old Latin school of Cuban son, cha-cha-cha, mambo and guaracha, adding the nostalgia of the traditional Puerto Rican sound that encompasses jíbara, bomba and plena music.

In 2004 the Latin Recording Academy awarded Colón a special Grammy for his career and contributions to music.

Community leader and activist

As a community leader, Colón fought for civil rights, mostly in the United States. He was part of the Hispanic Arts Association, the Latino Commission on AIDS, the Arthur Schomburg Coalition for a Better New York and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, among others.

In 1991 he was honored with the Chubb fellowship from Yale University, a public service recognition also awarded to the likes of John F. Kennedy, Moshe Dayan, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and Ronald Reagan, among others.

In the political arena, he served as special assistant to David Dinkins, New York's first Black mayor, and was later appointed special assistant and adviser to Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Colón had little luck running for public office himself, however. He failed in a challenge to then-U.S. Rep. Eliot Engel in the 1994 Democratic primary, and in 2001 came in third in the Democratic primary for New York's public advocate.

He backed Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in 2008, but he told the Observer that he voted for Donald Trump in 2016.

Colón had public clashes with artists and politicians. His friendship with Blades ruptured after Colón sued for breach of contract over the 2003 concert "Siembra ... 25 years later," held in Puerto Rico. He also sparked a controversy when he called the then-president of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, "rotten" on a social network.

Colón acted in films such as "Vigilante," "The Last Fight" and "It Could Happen to You," and on TV in "Miami Vice" and "Demasiado Corazón." More recently he appeared in Bad Bunny's music video for "NuevaYol."

He is survived by his wife and four sons.

Separate avalanches in Utah this week killed an 11-year-old girl near a ski resort and a father who was snowmobiling with his son in the backcountry, marking the state's first two snowslide fatalities of the season.

The child, identified as Madelyn Eitas from Rochester, Mass., was backcountry skiing with her family near the Brighton Ski Resort on Thursday when she was buried in the slide, FOX13 Salt Lake City reported, citing officials.

Eitas and her family had gone into an out-of-bounds area known as The Rock Garden when they were caught in the avalanche, the officials said. She had reportedly been buried for up to 30 minutes when search and rescue teams arrived.

Rescuers provided first aid before an ambulance rushed her to a hospital. The Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake said Eitas later died of her injuries, the outlet reported.

"It's a very, very solemn and depressing thing to notify people of," Unified Police Det. Quin Wilkins told the station.

The child's death came a day after another avalanche in Wasatch County killed a father.

The father was snowmobiling with his juvenile son in the Snake Creek area west of Midway when the slide buried him, the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office said. First responders, however, were unable to immediately reach the scene due to hazardous conditions.

The son was able to use an avalanche beacon to find his father and dig him out of the snow, according to officials. Despite the son's efforts, his father died at the scene.

"The Wasatch County Sheriff's Office extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and all those affected by this tragic incident," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "We also recognize the courageous efforts of the juvenile involved and the responding personnel who assisted in this difficult situation. Our thoughts are with all those impacted."

California Avalanche That Killed 8 Is Deadliest In State History

Officials have warned the public to stay away from the backcountry this weekend following the two avalanche deaths.

Search and rescue officials warned the public about dangerous conditions on the mountains in Utah this season following the two fatalities. (Fox News)

"Conditions on the mountain are as bad as they have been all winter!" Wasatch Search and Rescue commander Kam Kohler told Fox13. "The deepest, softest snow is the most treacherous right now. It's really, for most places, a no-go!"

Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera echoed concerns about dangerous conditions.

"This winter has created layers within the snowpack that can be unpredictable," Rivera said in a statement. "We want people to enjoy the Cottonwood Canyons, but safety must come first. When conditions are unstable, the smartest decision may be to avoid backcountry recreation altogether."

The deaths in Utah happened in the same week that an avalanche in Northern California killed eight skiers, including six mothers taking a trip together, near Lake Tahoe. Six other skiers in the group were rescued, while one additional person was presumed dead.

Ever since a certain megahit entered our orbit, you can't really hear the expression, "we could have had it all" without thinking of Adele.

The Grammy-winning singer, 37, released her wildly successful album 21 back in 2011, which means it's currently celebrating a significant anniversary that fans might find hard to believe. Did Adele's remarkable LP — and arguably her best, given all the records it broke — really hit the masses a whopping 15 years ago?

Sure, 21 had already been released in Europe the month prior in 2011 — but when it descended on North America that February, it entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1, the music magazine reports.

And that's when records began shattering courtesy of the English superstar, since 21 logged 24 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 — marking the longest run by any album since Prince & the Revolution's Purple Rain completed a 24-week run in 1985.

Then, in the spring of 2017, 21 broke the record for the longest-charting album by a female artist on the Billboard 200, surpassing Carole King's 1971 blockbuster Tapestry, Billboard also noted on Friday, Feb. 20.

And one other Billboard record of note among the numerous Adele broke with 21: Her 2011 LP was named the magazine's No. 1 album of the year for both 2011 and 2012, having become only the fourth to repeat, following:

the Broadway cast album from My Fair Lady (1957-58)

the film soundtrack to West Side Story (1962-63)

Michael Jackson's Thriller (1983-84)

Adele's name popped up in headlines recently courtesy of American Idol, whose current season features a contestant with vocals fans say are similar to the "Rolling in the Deep" singer's. The longtime talent show premiered its 24th season on Jan. 26 on ABC in search of the next star to take the music world by storm. See the viral clip of Chloe Lauren below.

"The last 48 hours have been devastating," Leigh, 43, told E! News. "I never thought I would be using the term 'had or was,' but here we are. And I hate it."

She continued, "Eric had a heart of gold. His humor and, especially, his laugh was infectious. He was a deeply intelligent man who could carry a philosophical conversation for hours even while we were on set."

To conclude her tribute, Leigh declared, "He was an amazing father and loved his girls FIERCELY. Incredibly passionate about his work and the causes he kept close to his heart."

Dane died on February 19 and is survived by his wife, Rebecca Gayheart (they were separated, but she withdrew her 2018 divorce filing in March 2025), and their two daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14. He revealed his ALS diagnosis in April 2025.

In Grey's Anatomy, Leigh joined at the end of Season 3 as the main character Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) half-sister. Her character was killed off in the Season 8 finale in a plane crash. Although Dane's character initially survived the same crash, McSteamy died in the Season 9 premiere.

The message continued, "Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight," the statement continued. "He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he's received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time."
